Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is a dry spray that gives hair texture, volume and hold without making it stiff. You spray it into dry hair, lift the sections and work it in with your fingers.
What it is
Think of it as something between hairspray and dry shampoo. It builds volume and gives hair grip, but leaves it with movement. It is the best-known product in the Oribe range, and one of its icons.

Step by step
1. Start with completely dry hair. The spray does nothing in damp hair.
2. Shake the can well.
3. Lift one section at a time and spray towards the roots and lengths from about 25 centimetres away.
4. Work the spray in with your fingers. Tousle, lift at the roots and shape.
5. Stop and take a look. It's easy to add more, but harder to take it away.
When it works best
In freshly blow-dried hair that feels too soft and slippery to hold a shape. In curls made with a curling iron, to loosen them into soft waves. In an updo, so the hair stays in place. And the day after washing, when hair needs new life at the roots.
Fine hair tends to love it in particular, because it adds fullness without weighing hair down.
Common mistakes
The most common is spraying too close. Everything lands in one spot and the hair feels coarse. Keep your distance and spray in short bursts.
The second most common is only spraying the top of the hair. Volume lives at the roots, so lift the sections and spray from underneath.
For different hair types
Fine hair: spray mainly at the roots and lift with your fingers. It gives fullness that lasts all day.
Thick hair: use it through the lengths to add structure and help curls or waves hold their shape.
Short hair: spray a little into your hands or straight into the hair and shape with your fingers for a tousled, lived-in finish.
Curly hair: use it sparingly and only on completely dry curls, when you want more volume at the roots.
How much and how often?
Start with a little. Two or three short sprays per section is enough for most people. Build up if you want more.
You can use it every day, but it builds up in the hair. Wash thoroughly when you do wash – ideally shampoo twice – so your scalp gets properly clean.
The spray works the day after, too. Massage your scalp with your fingertips to revive what's already in your hair before adding more.
With other products
If you use heat tools, heat protection goes on first and texturising spray last. And if you want both shine and texture, put the oil on the ends and the spray everywhere else.
Try it in the salon
In the salon I'm happy to show you how to use it, so you can do the same at home. You'll find it in the salon alongside the rest of Oribe's icons.
